Kink3D/Leather Daddy Cage Cream: A Review

I want to love this product. It’s a collaboration of two kink-friendly small businesses; Leather Daddy Skin Care and Kink3D Designs. I saw the teaser adds on the site formerly know as Twitter and I ordered it. I paid for it myself and have been using it as directed since it arrived. This is, as far as I know, the first product designed specifically for caged men. Like I said, I want to LOVE this product, but unfortunately I don’t. Read on for a more thorough review and the reasons why I won’t be purchasing it again.

Both of these companies are very small businesses carving out a niche in the kink world. I’ve met Leather Daddy twice and he is just a lovely person. He also wears a Kink3D cage, as does his boy. He started his very small business during the COVID shutdown and, while still essentially a one man shop, the business appears to be growing. I really want him to succeed. The same is true for Kink 3D. Clearly, they have made a huge splash in the chastity market, becoming the go to cage for many locked men. I’ve chatted with them on occasion and they are seriously customer focused and are proud of what they do. Again, I am rooting for them (and I own one of their cages). Clearly, a tie up between a company that specializes in skincare and one that knows how to lock a cock should be a no-brainer to produce a product designed for cage wearers.

The product cost $27 plus tax which amounted to slightly more than $30. The product arrived a week or so after I ordered it packed in a nicely branded box. Opening the box, I discovered more packaging. A lot more packaging. It was mostly recyclable on a positive note. After undoing all the packaging, I found the 29 mL tube of product. Thats just around 1 fluid ounce of product. The instructions recommend 4-5 pumps of the product per use, which is somewhere around 1-2 mLs I would estimate. I didn’t measure the actual amount to be fair, but I can see the tube is not going to last very long. At $30 a pop, this is going to get expensive quickly. Compare this to the $14 jar of Aquaphor (well, the CVS version) that I usually use, which is going on a year and still has plenty left.

Comparison of packaging

The label lists some very luxurious ingredients. The main ingredient is Shea butter, but also includes Aloe, coconut oil, jojoba oil, sunflower seed oil, colloidal oatmeal and several more exotic ingredients as well as the more typical chemicals found in most moisturizer products. These are some high end ingredients. Is that necessary for those living in a chastity cage to prevent chafing? Thats something you need to decide for yourself.

Also listed is Leather Daddy Fragrance Oil. While it may be the last ingredient, it is one of the most noticeable. The product is fairly fragrant. While I like the leather Daddy Signature scent, I don’t necessarily like it in everything. If you (or your Leather Daddy) prefer no perfumes or just prefer man scent, this is NOT the product for you. To be fair, I find a lot of Leather Daddy products to be too heavily perfumed for my taste. Still, it would be nice if they offered an unscented version.

With all the unique ingredients, I have to say my skin felt fabulous. Indeed, if this was perhaps unscented and a bit more voluminous, it would make a lovely face moisturizer (hint hint). I applied some to my fingers for a “snap” test. I like a fair amount of lubrication around my base ring. If I can snap my fingers after applying the product, then I am concerned that there may not be sufficient slipperiness. I had no problem making the snapping sound. It’s not scientific, but I think it’s a decent bench mark. My fingers however felt remarkably soft and supple. Still, the proof is in the pudding in this case. I applied my 4-5 pumps after showering every day, and I found that the ring chafing did not happen. I also found the one application did not last the full 24 hours between showers. So, it works as intended, but not for quite as long as I would like. I would also prefer it to be a bit slicker.

I’m left wondering exactly who this product is intended for. Do you really need luxurious skincare under your base ring? Maybe. The product is marketed to prevent chafing. You can get that just as, if not more, effectively for much less cost with other lubricants. I think if you like a very nice skin care product to apply around your cage and you only have a cage on now and then, this might make sense, particularly if you have no financial concerns. For us permanently caged men, the expense of this is just way too high to justify, as nice as it is. Applying this once or twice daily every day will end up costing some big bucks every month and I just don’t see a huge benefit compared to Aquaphor or silicone lube.

Pros: high quality, luxurious skin friendly ingredients; made by 2 kink oriented small businesses, prevents chafing while leaving your skin feeling amazing

Cons: expensive, product won’t last long if used daily, no unscented version available

As I said, I am a huge fan of both of these companies, but for me the expense of this product (at $30 per fluid ounce) and the strong scent just doesn’t justify replacing my tried and true (and inexpensive) Aquaphor for my daily cage lubricant needs. Your experience may be quite different.
